Katy Perry's Australian Purr Perfume Launch

Adding to the slew of celebrity-fronted scents, Katy Perry launched her new "Purr" fragrance in Melbourne, Australia earlier today (April 30).

The "E.T." singer looked radiant as she posed with her cat-shaped perfume bottle, wearing a shiny black and purple dress and black peep toe Christian Louboutin pumps.

Meanwhile, Katy, who is married to British funnyman Russell Brand, has just filed suit against Australia's "NW" magazine after they printed a claim that the she was involved in an "intimate relationship" with record producer Benny Blanco.

Perry filed legal papers against the publication earlier this week, which read, "By reason of the publication of the article the plaintiff (Perry) has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings (and) has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation."

Tom Hanks Says His College Years Inspired 'Larry Crowne'

'I was in junior college because it was my only option,' actor tells MTV News.
By Eric Ditzian

Tom Hanks with Julia Roberts in "Larry Crowne"

The first time Tom Hanks stepped behind the camera on a big-screen production, he captured a story set in the early 1960s, a period he had lived through as a preteen. But the particulars of "That Thing You Do!" — a rock band that rides a hit song to fame but can't follow through on their initial promise — couldn't have been further from Hanks' California childhood.

His second directorial effort, however, was inspired by events from his past, even if it does not seem so at first glance. In "Larry Crowne" — the upcoming comedy he also co-wrote and in which he stars with Julia Roberts — Hanks plays the title character, a guy fired from his job at a big-box retail store and forced to go back to college, where he meets a professor named Mercy Tainot (played by Roberts). But as Hanks told MTV News as part of our Summer Movie Preview week, he actually relates to his character's plight.

"My first years in college were much like Larry's," he told us. "I was in junior college because it was my only option — if I didn't enroll right after high school I would have had no path to any future. Two years in junior college became the jumping-off point for everything that came later and I think this was the same for others — not just kids out of high school, but guys back from Vietnam, wives going back to school after their kids were older, and folks who were looking to change their lives for the better."

While the genesis of the film came from Hanks' early college years, he enlisted Nia Vardalos, whose "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" he'd produced in 2002, to collaborate on the script.

"Nia and I talk all the time and laugh constantly, and I wanted a woman's voice to be a part of the movie, since Mercy Tainot is in a comparable life situation as Larry," Hanks explained. "Nia worked exclusively on the screenplay, based on meetings she and I had, for a number of drafts. Then the script sat in a drawer for a couple of years. I then worked exclusively on the screenplay through the complete production. The story evolved through both of us, though, and what I was shooting for was built up with every draft."

Roberts and Hanks have worked together before, on the political drama "Charlie Wilson's War," but they hadn't shared the screen on lighter material. He does, though, see a connection between that earlier film and "Larry Crowne" in that "we were playing real people in real circumstances." Similarities aside, Hanks simply knew Roberts was the perfect person for the role.

"Julia is Mercy Tainot — funny, wicked intelligent, driven and not one to suffer fools at all," he said. "But make no mistake of Julia's ability to find what is funny in a scene smack up against what is authentic."

For all the comedic elements of the film, there is a dramatic arc for both characters. Larry, for instance, essentially has to reinvent himself in middle age. And if Hanks had to refashion his own life, he joked that he'd strike out in a rather unexpected direction: "I'd go for the Iggy Pop look and gravitas."

Check out everything we've got on "Larry Crowne."

Britney Spears 'Till The World Ends' Bollywood Remix Hits Web

The Femme Fatale singer takes to Twitter to encourage fans to 'check out this incredible ... remix.'

Last week, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" got the Bollywood treatment when Indian composers Salim-Sulaiman remixed her feel-good disco track. Now, Britney Spears is feeling the Indian love from entertainment website Desi Hits! and the Culture Shock production team, who put their Bollywood-style spin on "Till the World Ends."

"Check out this incredible Desihits remix of Till The World Ends. I LOVE it!!!" Britney tweeted on Monday about the track.

The swirling take on Spears' hit tune boasts a "Punjabi breakdown" section that features some South Asian-sounding vocals from Culture Shock's Lomaticc and Sunny Brown. The track includes some added Desi flavors courtesy of dholki, dhol and tumbi beats, which are common in Indian music.

"Our goal was to take Britney's smash hit single and give fans a total Desi adrenaline rush," Culture Shock's Baba Kahn explained. "The result is a Culture Shock musical Desi roller coaster that hopefully everyone around the world will want to join."

It seems that Spears' camp was crucial in orchestrating the remix. "We wanted to build an even greater connection between the world's biggest pop star and one of the world's largest audiences," Mark Flaherty, senior vice president of Jive Label Group, says of the reimagined tune. "Britney has been engaged with South Asian culture for many years. From the groundbreaking Bollywood-inspired remix of 'Me Against the Music' to her recent collaboration with Indian fashion designers Falguni and Shane Peacock on the 'Hold It Against Me' video, she has embraced the incredible sights and sounds of this vibrant community throughout her career."

The original version of "Till the World Ends," the second single from Britney's Femme Fatale album, was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. At last look, the tune held the #8 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Are you loving the Bollywood-style "Till the World Ends" remix? Tell us in the comments.

MTV Movie Awards Host Jason Sudeikis: Everything You Need To Know!

'Saturday Night Live' regular and star of 'Horrible Bosses' has bona fide comedic chops.
By Kara Warner

Jason Sudeikis
Photo: D. Dipasupil/ Getty Images

Congrats are in order for "Saturday Night Live" star Jason Sudeikis, who has just been announced as our newest MTV Movie Awards host. Sudeikis will be hosting the consistently star-studded and unpredictable event live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on June 5. So for those who haven't been following the comedic actor's every move since he began his successful career, here's a few handy Sudeikis facts and figures to help explain why he's the perfect choice to lead our 20th annual Movie Awards.

Before getting his big break on "SNL," Sudeikis performed in several improv troupes in Kansas City, Chicago and Las Vegas. In fact, he was a founding member of Second City Las Vegas, where he was eventually snatched up by "SNL" to be a sketch writer in 2003. He became a full-fledged castmember in 2006 and had memorable turns impersonating the likes of "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks and Vice President Joe Biden.

In recent years, Sudeikis has been carving a name for himself outside of the comforts of his "SNL" family. In addition to a guest appearance on "30 Rock" as ("SNL" alum) Tina Fey's love interest Floyd, Sudeikis has appeared in a slew of feature films: "What Happens in Vegas," "The Bounty Hunter," "Going the Distance," "Hall Pass" and the upcoming flicks "Horrible Bosses" and "A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy." He also currently lends his voice to "The Cleveland Show," as Holt Richter and Terry Kimple. With all these eclectic acting tricks in his bag, Sudeikis is guaranteed to keep the MTV audience entertained come June 5.

"I'm sincerely flattered that the folks from the Mostly Teenage Viewers network have invited me to host this year, and I look forward to keeping the streak of flawless and critically lauded Movie Awards show hosting in 2011 alive," Sudeikis said about the gig.

The MTV Movie Awards nominees — based on your votes at MovieAwards.MTV.com — will be announced on May 3, at which point you'll be able to vote for your favorite films and stars in categories like Best Fight, Best Kiss, Biggest Badass Star, Best Villain and, of course, Best Movie. Voting will continue through June 4, though Best Movie will remain open throughout the live ceremony on June 5 — meaning you'll have a chance to affect the night's biggest prize until the very last minute.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET.

¿Y a ti? ¿Qué te parece todo esto?

Julie Bowen: We All Want to Look Like Jennifer Aniston

Julie Bowen: We All Want to Look Like Jennifer Aniston

Every week we watch Julie Bowen absolutely kill it as Claire Dunphy on Modern Family, and we're secretly a little jealous that someone can be so pretty and so funny at the same time. But it turns out Bowen has a girl crush of her own -- on Jennifer Aniston!

"She's one of our own," Bowen told People.com of her costar in the upcoming movie Horrible Bosses. "She's incredibly beautiful in the way that you think you could be if you got drunk enough and looked in the mirror just at the right angle."

Bowen, 41, says that the minute she met Aniston, she immediately wanted to be her friend.

"In the makeup trailer, I was pulled into her orbit," Bowen laughed. "I've met her a few times before, she's an incredibly nice person. I don't think I've ever heard a bad word said about her, and it's all true."

Though Bowen is no slouch herself, the blonde beauty says that Aniston, 42, has the type of looks that everyone wants, herself included.

"You think she's an accessible sort of beautiful, but you really can't get that beautiful on your own,"  she says. "You'd have to drink your way there."

While we think Bowen is totally underestimating her own appeal, we see what she's saying about Jen. Aniston is naturally beautiful in a way that doesn't overwhelm the average person like, let's say, Angelina Jolie. And while Bowen may want to be BFFs with Jen, we'd love to meet both down-to-earth ladies for a cocktail!

Nicki Minaj 'Really Excited' About Britney Spears Tour

MC says she wants to 'show people that I can be part of any world.'

Fans are eight weeks away from the launch of the Femme Fatale tour. Britney Spears, along with top-line tour opener Nicki Minaj, will get the party started in June in Sacramento, California.

Minaj has called the slot "an honor." When MTV News caught up with the Barbie herself in New Orleans for the latest stop on the I Am Still Music Tour, she opened up a bit more about the matchup.

"She's definitely iconic and I'm very excited," Minaj explained. "It's weird. I just always remember her, since I was little, ruling the world, so I'm really excited to just expand my fanbase and show people that I can be a part of any world."

Minaj is the reigning princess in the hip-hop world, and she feels that hooking up with pop's leading queen will expand her horizons, even if she has to make some changes to her stage show.

"Of course I will adjust some things. I definitely will take away that one particular stage prop," she said of one very phallic object, adding that her music and set list will basically stay the same. "We'll add some stuff 'cause I got some new things coming out this summer, some new records."

Earlier this week, Minaj called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show, promising that things will be characteristically over-the-top when she hits the road with Spears.

"I'm calling to let everyone know how thrilled I am, how honored I am to be going on the road with the iconic Miss Britney Spears this summer. I just know that when the Femme Fatales and the Barbs get together, we're going to kick major ass," she said. "And I am looking forward to creating a new, a bigger, a brighter, a more spectacular show. And I am just really, really excited to make history with Britney, so you guys, make sure you come out this summer."

Lindsay Lohan Locks Role In 'Gotti' Flick

Actress is set to play mob wife Kim Gotti in the film.
By Jocelyn Vena

Lindsay Lohan
Photo: Jeff Vespa/ WireImage

After some momentary drama on Wednesday, when it seemed that Lindsay Lohan's role in the mob family biopic "Gotti: Three Generations" was in jeopardy, it was confirmed later that the embattled starlet would still be in the film.

Originally up for the role of Victoria Gotti, Lohan is now set to play the wife of John Gotti Jr., Kim Gotti. "I'm really excited to be back on set and clear up all the misinterpretations about me and show this is what I love to do," Lohan said about the casting, according to The Associated Press. "I think it's such an iconic story. I think it's a great story to be told. I'm honored to be working with John Travolta and Joe Pesci."

The movie's producer, Marc Fiore, explained to People.com that it was Lohan herself who managed to make sure she got cast in the flick. "She was definitely out as of earlier today, but she really wanted the part," he said. "She not only is back in the movie, but she single-handedly put it all together. She called me personally and put her team on it, and we came to an agreement."

Lohan, who was originally rumored to be a part of the movie earlier this month, said that she looks forward to playing the role because "you don't get to see the heart behind the story and the real side of people. I can relate to that because I think that I've been portrayed in a certain light. I just want to do my best to show what their family really went through."

PHOTOSHOOT FAB: Tika Sumpter Gets SEXY In Her Lingerie For ESQUIRE Mag

Tika Sumpter just upped her ante of being the good and sweet girl with a bad girl side.  The 28-year-old YBF It Girl of the moment just sexed it up a bit for ESQUIRE mag's "Me In My Place" photo spread.  And we've got the pics of the "Gossip Girl" and "The Game" actress--and she sings too!--in her fave boyshorts while showing off her cute apartment....and her killer bod.

15+ Pics and article highlights when you read on....

On her fave lingerie:

I love any kind of boy shorts. They make every girl's legs look amazing......and their butts look great. I walk around my house like that anyway — kind of like nothing. If I could walk around like that everyday outside, I would.

On how to know when she's seducing you:

Don't worry: If you're with me, you'll know if I want to kiss you or not. There will be no question. When it comes to that stuff, I'm pretty bold with the eyes.

On her sexy bedroom tactics :

I mean, I do have sexy stuff. But I've tried that for somebody else, and I was like, "What am I doing?" You put on the black lace thigh-highs and the little tiny stuff that connects with other things and you're like, "How does this even go? How do I put this on?"  So you wear the heels and you walk in the room. You're trying to be all sexy, but you're so uncomfortable. And then you pop him in the face with it. It's a mess.

On surprising people with her adventurous side:

The racing helmet? It's on my book shelf. To let everybody know that I'm a bit of a crazy girl.
I'll try anything once. It's always good to see peoples' faces surprised — surprised that I race, or that I surf, that I trekked through the Himalayas. As long as I don't die, I'm good.

On the perks of living solo:

I live by myself. I come in the door, I can throw my stuff on the floor. I can leave the dishes. I can have wine.  Nobody is telling me to turn down the TV or, Okay, let's go to bed. I just do what I want, when I want, and I love that. It's like my own kingdom, you know? But I'm weird. I love to clean my apartment, like, all the time.

She works the innocent yet sexy look to perfection.  Fab pics Tika!

'X-Men: First Class' Star Zoe Kravitz Talks 'Sexy' Audition

Cast as mutant Angel, Kravitz chats with MTV News about doing dangerous stunts, donning CGI wings and more.
By Eric Ditzian

The cast of "X-Men: First Class"
Photo: Marvel

MTV News' Summer Movie Preview roars ahead today, following up Monday's "Captain America" exclusive with even more comic-book movie goodness in the guise of "X-Men: First Class." Our exclusive photo captures many of the core mutants — James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and others — looking very suspiciously at ... well, something. (We'll have to wait until the film hits theaters on June 3 to find out for sure.)

Additionally, "X-Men" star Zoë Kravitz, who plays the insect-winged mutant Angel, called up MTV News to chat about the film's devoted fanbase, her less-than-sexy audition, and what it's like to be strung up on wires over a freezing cold beach for a week — all in the name of movie magic.

MTV: Have you gotten a sense yet about how passionate people are about comic book properties like "X-Men"?

Zoe Kravitz: Yes, it's crazy! I've never been into comic books, so I was never in that world. When the trailer came out, I looked at it on YouTube and there were pages and pages and pages of comments. People were getting heated. And all the blogs — it's crazy! This is really near and dear to a lot of people, so I hope we don't disappoint them!

MTV: Well, the reaction so far has been very positive, but was there that added pressure on set to get it right, based on how intense the fanbase is?

Kravitz: When we were filming it, we didn't have that sort of energy. We were just focused on what we were doing. We tried to focus on the drama in the material and approach everything as actors. Now that we're done, we're seeing that people are reacting strongly to what they've seen.

MTV: What was your audition process like?

Kravitz: I was actually one of the last people cast. It happened really quickly. They were being really secretive about the script and the characters that were going to be in the film, so I didn't even know who I was auditioning for. I didn't think I had a shot. I didn't even take it seriously. It wasn't with [director] Matthew [Vaughn]. It was with the casting director in New York. I got the call at the last minute and I'd gone out the night before and I was hungover and tired and not the prepared person that I usually am. I was wearing a big hat and totally not being a sexy "X-Men" character. I went in and had a good time with it. They called back and said, "Matthew really responded to your tape, but can you come back and maybe wear something a little more sexy?" I didn't know until later the character was a go-go dancer. I went back in and in the next two weeks, I was on plane to London.

MTV: So you didn't have to strap on the insect wings?

Kravitz: Nope! They flew me out and there was a full month of preproduction of making decisions about the wings — and putting them on — and the different shapes and colors. And there was a lot of training. I did do a lot of wire work, so I had to get pretty strong.

MTV: Angel isn't one of these super well-known characters, but she's got a cool backstory where she runs away from home and discovers her mutation. Do we get any of those origins in the movie?

Kravitz: She has such a cool background, but that is not in the film. You meet her later when they're recruiting these mutants to form the first group of X-Men. But it was really helpful for me to know all that information to form the character. But who knows what will happen in the future. Hopefully, they'll continue with her.

MTV: What's going on with that shot of you, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in the trailer? You've got your top off in some kind of red, velvet-covered room.

Kravitz: It's really funny. They come to find me, knowing about my mutation, and I'm working at a go-go club. I don't know what they're there for, so I take them in back for a private dance and then we show each other our powers.

MTV News: Are the wings totally CGI?

Kravitz: Yeah. The tattoos are really there and they make them come out of the tattoos with CGI.

MTV: Was there was one stunt or scene that was particularly difficult or that you're proud of?

Kravitz: I never got hurt, so nothing was too scary. There is this big scene on the beach at the end, and they shot it in Georgia. They had me wired up and really high in the air and zooming around the beach. It was really cold and I was wearing these leather shorts and this backless top. I was up there for a week, zooming around and freezing my ass off. And then there was this one stunt I didn't get to do. They hung my stunt double out of this helicopter over the ocean. I was like, "Why can I do that?" And they were like, "Um, no."

Check out everything we've got on "X-Men: First Class."

Does 'Water For Elephants' Prove Robert Pattinson's Box-Office Draw?

Experts discuss what film's $17.5 million debut means for the 'Twilight' star.
By Eric Ditzian

Robert Pattinson
Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage

After the "Twilight" franchise made him a household name (at least among families' more junior members), Robert Pattinson's first cinematic outing outside the vampire franchise didn't go so well. "Remember Me" received largely negative reviews last year and stumbled at the box office, ultimately grossing less than $20 million domestically.

"Water for Elephants," by contrast, largely performed up to expectations this week, reeling in $17.5 million. The sweeping romantic drama was a big test for Pattinson — a major studio flick aimed not at his teen base, but an adult audience. Would this be the project that launched the 24-year-old Brit from Twi-hunk to broadly accepted Hollywood leading man? Perhaps not yet, owing to the respectable but not astounding debut, though industry insiders are calling "Water for Elephants" a much-needed step toward that goal.

"Pattinson has yet to prove he is an evergreen box-office draw, outside of vamping it up in the 'Twilight' series," said Jeff Bock, box-office analyst for Exhibitor Relations. " 'WFE' was the right choice as it wasn't too much of a stretch and is in the general wheelhouse of his core fanbase: women. A lot of times, up-and-coming actors turn 180 degrees and play a drug dealer or pathological killer just to shed their public persona, and oftentimes that backfires, as they turn their back on their true fans."

"WFE" certainly succeeded at targeting older female moviegoers. According to Fox, the film's audience was 70 percent female and 70 percent over the age of 25. That age demographic gives us a good clue why "WFE" didn't cross the $20 million mark. Channing Tatum's "Dear John," for example, targeted a teen audience and debuted with $30.5 million domestically on its way to an $80 million total. The takeaway is not that Tatum is a bigger box-office draw than Pattinson, but that teens come out early for films that interest them. As Phil Contrino, editor of BoxOffice.com explained, "The key thing to understand is that this type of film has a large appeal among moviegoers aged 35 and up, and that group doesn't feel the need to rush out opening weekend. It will hold up quite well in the weeks to come."

But the question remains whether Pattinson will be able to capitalize on his "Twilight" celebrity and become one of those ever-more-rare actors who can drive ticket sales. Some experts aren't convinced he ever will. "There is no reason to believe that Robert Pattinson or anyone from the 'Twilight' franchise can open a movie," said Movie City News' David Poland. "Some of those actors are very talented. Some not. But Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, etc., are the natural template. But what of Harrison Ford? I don't see any of that swashbuckler in the gentle actor in Pattinson."

Perhaps, though action blockbusters like "Indiana Jones" aren't the projects that Pattinson will be pursuing in the future. Many insiders suggest his best bet is to follow the path of other young heartthrobs before him.

"Take a page from Tom Cruise's book and only work with great directors," Contrino suggested. "After skyrocketing to fame, Cruise wisely worked with the likes of Oliver Stone, Martin Scorsese and Barry Levinson."

At least with his next project, Pattinson is making those kinds of decisions, signing up for David Cronenberg's adaptation of "Cosmopolis." Where he goes from there, however — and whether he's able to bridge the divide between teen idol and Hollywood icon — is anybody's guess.

"If Pattinson's films can consistently make money at the box office, major studios will continue to take a chance on him," Bock said. "In the near future, expect him to be attached to high-profile directors in smaller, meaty roles. That way he can diversify and not lose the core audience that follows his every move. And, if that doesn't work out, there are about a zillion Harlequin novels ripe for adaptation that he and Fabio can star in."

Is Nicki Minaj A Good Fit For Britney Spears' Tour? Experts Weigh In

'If people are going mainly for Britney, they will be excited to see Nicki as well and vice versa,' one insider tells MTV News.

After lots of rumors, it was officially announced Tuesday (April 12) that Britney Spears would be bringing along Nicki Minaj (as well as up-and-comers Nervo and Jessie and the Toyboys) on her Femme Fatale tour, kicking off this summer.

The Spears/Minaj matchup may not initially make sense, given their very different styles, but according to industry insiders who work on booking talent for venues throughout the country, this really is a match made in heaven.

"Bringing [together] two genres of music — one icon and one rising icon — is great for the music business. The combination of Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj on tour together is great for the music industry [and] shows its growing diversity," Matt Levine of Brandsway Creative, a branding and marketing group in New York City, explained to MTV News. "It gives concertgoers the opportunity to see two independently creative females excelling in their craft and showcasing their talent."

Dawn M. Britt, the director of public relations for the Venetian and Palazzo hotels in Las Vegas, said seeing these ladies on tour together screams girl power.

"Both Britney and Nicki give off a very 'girl power' attitude, and combining the Femme Fatale and Barbie themes is a smart marketing tool with the all-female tour," Britt explained. " ... Nicki is a mainstream rapper and collaborates with a lot of pop artists. Their audiences overlap enough that if people are going mainly for Britney, they will be excited to see Nicki as well and vice versa."

Britt said this tour makes tons of sense as it combines "two of the biggest names in music right now. Britney is a legend and in the midst of a huge comeback right now with her new Femme Fatale CD," she said. "Her recent performance in Vegas was a huge success and really got people excited for the tour. Nicki has been making a name for herself the last few years and is in high demand for collaborations and appearances."

Gary Bongiovanni, editor in chief of Pollstar, explained that Nicki is a good fit for the tour since "that tour likely needs a strong support act, and Nicki is not a bad choice. Options at this late date had to be limited." He added that since Spears is launching a new phase of her career, "Fan response on an act like Britney ... is always a question mark until you put the first shows on sale and the public answers the demand-level question with their wallets."

What do you think of the Britney/Nicki combo? Let us know in the comments!

Elton John Marvels As 'The Union' Opens Tribeca Film Fest

'We can't believe our luck,' Elton tells MTV News at red-carpet premiere of Cameron Crowe musical documentary.

Ten years on, the Tribeca Film Festival is going on as strong — and as unpredictable — as ever. Last spring, the fest kicked things off in midtown Manhattan with the premiere of "Shrek Forever After." This time around, Tribeca returned to its roots, settling into the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center (just steps from Ground Zero) for the debut of "The Union," Cameron Crowe's documentary about the Grammy-nominated musical collaboration between Elton John and Leon Russell.

"We can't believe our luck," Elton told MTV News Wednesday on the red carpet as paparazzi flashbulbs popped around him.

Joining the music legend on the carpet were Martin Scorsese, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Anna Kendrick, Rainn Wilson, Denis Leary, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Zoe Kravitz, ?uestlove, David O. Russell and others. Elton himself confessed he was initially nervous to invite Crowe's cameras into the recording studio, but was very happy with the results and the opportunity to debut the film in New York.

"I've never had a song filmed when I'm writing it, but Cameron's such a friend, I trusted him," he told us. "New York City is my favorite place to play. I've played 62 shows at Madison Square Garden, I've played at Radio City, Central Park, Shea Stadium, Fillmore East. It's been a very important city in my musical career and probably the most exciting city in the world."

"The Union," then, provides a singular window into Elton's artistic process, and folks like ?uestlove couldn't wait to see what it was all about. "The '70s icons that we worship, they came before the information age," the Roots drummer told us. "Now, you can watch Kanye make beats, but I would love to see how Elton collaborates. Who does the music, who does the lyrics, how that all works out."

And as the celebs glided down the red carpet on their way inside the theater, many couldn't help but marvel at how the festival, born in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, continues to thrive a decade later. "People forget that after 9/11, this neighborhood was devastated," Denis Leary told us. "People were afraid to come down and some people were moving out. [Robert] De Niro and [festival co-founder] Jane Rosenthal brought people back down. They brought culture back down and real spirit, which is much to their credit."

Ke$ha Will Guest-Star On Nick's 'Victorious'

'It was really fun to film,' Victoria Justice says of the 'Blow' singer's cameo.

Ke$ha will make an appearance on the hit Nickelodeon series "Victorious." And while the role won't have the pop singer stretching her acting muscle too much — she'll be playing herself — someone else in the Sebert (that's her real last name) clan also is getting in on the action.

Ke$ha will be joined on the episode of the sitcom by her little brother, Louie. The plot will revolve around Tori (Victoria Justice) and her pals trying to win a contest to go to a Ke$ha concert. The gang must piece together golden tickets in order to win their chance to see the "Blow" singer in a private gig.

It seems that 11-year-old Louie provides the winning piece so that they can watch the glittered one perform the aforementioned track.

"It's a private concert, and yeah, I will say that the costumes are awesome and there's definitely lots of glitter," Justice told EW.com, which first reported on the episode. "It was really fun to film. It's the first time on my show that we've had a successful radio artist perform on the show. Ke$ha's kind of edgier, and I think that it's cool to bring that element to the show."

"Victorious" made its big debut last spring. When MTV News caught up with Justice at that time, the teen actress was excited about the interesting plot possibilities the show's premise provides.

"I play a girl named Tori Vega and she's kind of suddenly accepted to this performance arts high school, and from there it's her dealing with all these crazy characters that go there and normal teen problems, like trying to fit in and cute boys," Justice explained. "I also get to perform original music and sing and dance. [That] makes it a lot of fun."

Are you excited to see Ke$ha and her little brother on "Victorious"? Tell us in the comments.

Beyonce Gets Fierce In Promo Shot For New Single

Singer looks as if she's channeling Grace Jones in photo for girl-power anthem.

Editor's note: Since publishing this story, it has come to our attention that the photo assumed to be of Beyoncé for her new single is actually a fake.

She may have retired Sasha Fierce, but that doesn't mean she's any less fierce. Beyoncé's promo shot for her girl-power anthem, possibly titled "Girls (That Rule the World)," has hit the Internet.

In the close-up, black-and-white snapshot, Beyoncé looks as if she's channeling Grace Jones. Her hair is pulled back sleekly, her mouth is slightly open and her black liquid eye makeup is done up in a funky cat-eye style. She appears to be nude and is wearing black nail polish. The shot first appeared on Twitter. The question "Who run the world?" appears on the poster, with the tease, "Coming Soon."

The photo comes as more and more shots of the music video for the song have hit the Web. On Wednesday, Beyoncé was seen on the set looking like the queen of her own country, with a gigantic crown and flag with the initial "B" on it.

Just a day before, Beyoncé made headlines when she was spotted on a music video set wearing a white Givenchy jumpsuit, faux-hawk and sunglasses. The video will reportedly be directed by Francis Lawrence, who worked with Beyoncé in her Destiny's Child days. He's also worked with Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Pink.

On Thursday, a snippet of the track leaked. It's a feisty club-thumper about the power of being female.

"Love it how we're smart enough to make these millions, strong enough to bear the children, then get back to business," she sings. "Please, you better not play me. Oh, come here, baby/ Hope you still like me, if you pay me."

The tease certainly fit Bey's previous description of the album's vibe. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm inventing a new genre," Beyoncé explained. "I'm mixing every type of genre that I love, and I'm inspired by every type of genre. ... I'm not in a box. It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."

Exciting News

I have all but abandoned this blog and, for that, I am sorry. I am, however, going to get back to it because... wait for it, wait for it... I'm moving to LA for six months starting in June and I'm going to share every dirty detail with you!

You see, Mark and my good friend Patty are executive producers of a new television show that will be taping in New York from June to November. Instead of him getting his own apartment here, we thought it would be more fun to trade places. It's going to be like The Holiday and I get to be Kate Winslet. I'M GOING TO HAVE A CAR AND EVERYTHING. (Watch. Out.)

I'm looking forward to a change of scenery and have other friends out there besides him. Also, the movie is being released at the end of September, so it will be fun to be out there for that.

So anyway, that's what I've been up to—planning all this and getting ready for my (temporary) move. Stay tuned!
